Our alpacas - Gentle companions with charm

Fascinating creatures
"Never look too deeply into an alpaca's eyes, you might fall in love."
This ancient Incan wisdom perfectly captures the magic of these animals. With their large, dark eyes, infectious curiosity, and profound inner peace, alpacas win hearts in an instant. They are intelligent, sensitive creatures brimming with joie de vivre.
No two animals are alike: From the dreamy explorer to the watchful protector to the charming goofball, each alpaca brings its own unique, lovable personality to the herd.
Origin and special features
As part of the camelid family, alpacas originally come from the South American Andes. There are two main breeds: the Suri and the Huacaya. On our farm, we have consciously chosen to breed and keep Huacayas. Their adaptation to the harsh high-altitude climate of South America makes the North German weather ideal for our animals.
Life in the herd
Alpacas are highly sensitive herd animals with pronounced social behavior. They spend most of the day together – grazing peacefully, dozing together, playing, or harmoniously ruminating. After a gestation period of around eleven months, a single offspring, called a "cria," is born. Multiple births are extremely rare. The mother nurses her cria for about six to eight months, until the little one is ready to explore the world independently. With proper and loving care, these fascinating animals can give us up to 25 years full of unforgettable moments.

Emilio
With his friendly and inquisitive nature, he brings life to the herd. He loves nothing more than bounding around the pasture, full of jolly joy and always up to mischief. Having been accustomed to human contact since he was a puppy, he approaches every visitor openly and with curiosity.

Cosimo
With his cuddly appearance and the wonderfully slow walking pace he always displays, he is the natural calm center of our herd.

Mimi
Mimi is just like her mother – this is evident both in her appearance and in her wonderful nature.

Blanca
Born in 2024, she and her three sisters set out to find a new home. Today, she is an integral part of our little herd, which she enriches wonderfully. With her shy and reserved nature, she quietly steals her way into everyone's heart.

Clara (white)
Little Clara knows exactly what she wants! If there's muesli, she's guaranteed to be first in line. And if filling the hay rack takes too long, she gently nudges you to hurry with a curious little push.

Alma (2nd from the right)
Alma is not easily disturbed. If there's any commotion or minor squabbles in the herd, she prefers to retreat to a cozy corner and chill.

Amaya
As a real whirlwind, she brings a lot of energy to the group – preferably alongside Emilio, whose presence she can hardly imagine without.

Isabela
Born in June 2023, she is very approachable and friendly. She's always the first one there, because her curiosity almost always wins out.

† Coco
The nucleus of our little herd has crossed the Rainbow Bridge – we miss you terribly! The petite mare was always cautious, attentive, and reserved around people. But to those who approached her slowly and gently, she revealed her incomparably gentle and loving nature.

† Mia & Sophia
Born in June and August 2023, they only had a short time in this world. After a brief, serious illness, they both crossed the Rainbow Bridge. We remember how they initially observed everything tentatively from a distance, and we miss them dearly.
