Our house chapel

A place of prayer in the rhythm of nature and faith
On our idyllic estate, Gut Eich, nestled within the vibrant daily life of our long-established Trakehner breeding farm, there is now also a place of retreat for moments of reflection. The well-known Catholic priest from the Bremen-North deanery and extreme endurance athlete, Dr. Pawel Nowak, consecrated our newly created, small chapel in a festive ceremony.
This room of silence is far more to us than just a quiet space. Inspired by the Benedictine tradition - to which our family has always been deeply connected through the Catholic faith - it is an oasis of respite amidst the daily life of the farm. Here at Gut Eich, it forms a wonderful bridge between profound spirituality and our passion for breeding Trakehner horses.
The Benedictines live according to the timeless motto "Ora et labora" – pray and work. For us, this balance holds the secret to inner contentment. Our daily, devoted work with these noble horses demands our full commitment, great patience, and love for the animals. But this craft only truly flourishes when it is interspersed with moments of reflection.
The Benedictine cross at the entrance reminds us and our guests of protection, peace, and a conscious focus on what is essential. Those who enter this space are invited to lay down their tools for a moment, find stillness, and draw new strength. It is a place to pause and place one's work under God's blessing, so that one can return to the horses with peace of mind and renewed energy.
For the "cycling pastor" himself, this place also brings things full circle: perseverance, hard work in the saddle, and deep trust in God have always defined his own life. Our new chapel now stands as a living symbol of how work and faith, in harmony, can achieve great things.
