Our Galloways
When we think of our roots - Scotland: we think of endless green landscapes, bagpipes, castles, sheep and, of course - Galloways.

Our Galloways: Serene, primal nature at Gut Eich
Besides our Trakehner horses, our hearts beat for a very special robust cattle breed that forges a deep, personal link to our family's roots: our small, select Galloway herd. These gentle giants originally come from the windswept southwest of Scotland – the very homeland from which our family's ancestors once set out for East Prussia. It fills us with proud joy to breed these traditional animals in the herd book today.
A life in freedom and harmony
The heart of our pedigree breeding program is our proud breeding bull and his fine mother cows. Together they live in a harmonious, natural herd. Our Galloways enjoy the freedom of our wide, lush pastures all year round. Their thick, curly coats protect them from wind and weather – and on particularly unpleasant days or for sleeping, they retreat to our spacious, open barns.
With their unwavering composure, robust elegance and friendly character, they are not only a perfect addition to Gut Eich, but a living piece of family history that can be experienced up close in our meadows.

New arrival in the pasture
Our Galloways have animal company!
Those who look closely will recently discover some very special faces on our land. Admittedly, their origins are worlds apart geographically – here the robust Galloways from windy Scotland, there our three new water buffalo cows. But as they say, opposites attract! What unites both breeds is their absolute naturalness, their hardiness, and their love of life outdoors.
While the Galloways stoically tend the lush greenery, our gentle buffaloes will now provide a wonderful, exotic flair.

This incredibly people-oriented trio actively supports us in maintaining the natural landscape, keeping the damper areas of the pasture in perfect condition. They're already a real highlight – especially for visitors who pass right by the pasture on their handcars. Our new residents are exceptionally curious and clearly enjoy the attention. Rosi, in particular, is so affectionate that she practically demands her daily dose of petting. And when it gets warm in the summer, she's guaranteed to be first in line to enjoy a refreshing shower with the garden hose.
Why not stop by on your next outing and keep an eye out for our new, unlikely dream couple. Rosie, Roxy and Kaethe are looking forward to your visit!
Our pride and joy:
Thor, a certified breeding bull, received top marks!
We are delighted to introduce our newly approved breeding bull. At the official inspection, he impressed the judges across the board and received the outstanding scores of 8/7/7.
Thor vom Winzelbach is a very typical, medium-framed young bull and a son of the AI bull Tramp, who carries over 30 years of Scottish genetics from the herds of Grange, Glenapp, Penninghame, and Over Barkeoch. Very rare genetics! The AI bull Tramp is no longer available in Germany. We are delighted that he will be influencing our herd from today onwards.
